About Cleveland's Original Harley-Davidson® Sales Company
Harley-Davidson® Sales Co., Inc. in Cleveland, Ohio is a full service store carrying a complete line of Harley-Davidson® motorcycles, parts, accessories, riding apparel and collectibles, service and rentals.
Established in 1929 by L.H. Simonson, it is currently owned and operated by Dan Schmidt, the grandson of L.H. Simonson. It is the oldest family-operated dealership in the state of Ohio.
L.H. Simonson became a Harley-Davidson® dealer in 1929. His daughter, Lois, and her husband, Smitty, took over in 1949. The current owner, Dan Schmidt (Lois and Smitty's son), was practically born in the business, with over 40 years of motorcycle experience under his belt.
They moved to their current location in 1985, where they have a seven acre site in the city of Cleveland. The 10,000 square foot showroom and 32,000 square foot service department and storage area are all on one floor and under one roof. They have a large inventory of NOS Harley-Davidson® parts.
Being located right off of the Interstate 71 freeway between downtown and the Cleveland Hopkins airport, it is an easy stop for folks passing through from out-of-town.
Over the years, they have accumulated a nice assortment of antique motorcycles and memorabilia. Dan's mother, Lois, was the founding member of Cleveland's first "all girl" motorcycle club. Her club also started the third AMA chapter in the country. When passing through the Cleveland area, be sure to stop in and check out the antique cycles and memorabilia that Dan and his family have collected since 1929.
